Garden centre spider

Uloborus plumipes is a recent addition to our spider fauna which has apparently been spreading rapidly in garden centres. The best distinguishing features are the body shape, tufts of hairs on the front legs and their habit of sitting motionless with legs stretched out in the roof area or amongst the plants below. It may be easier initially to find the very distinctive creamy or off-white papery eggsacs.
